Start your journey towards health and wellness

Health and wellness can only be achieved by consistently making those healthy choices that over time benefit your whole life, health and happiness. This starts with reaching subconscious level of implementing the basic hygiene principles and healthy life styles.

Assuming that we are all conversant with the basic requirements of personal, environmental, and food hygiene, let us move forward to other needs that must be in place to ensure easy sail on our road to health and wellness. You can paste it on your wall.

  1. Start and end the day with your chosen routine/ method of inspirational or motivational recitation, reading, listening, or singing; prayer and meditation.
  2. Drink a cup of water or tea in the morning; ensure at least 2-3 litres of fluids a day, preferably water.
  3. Daily or weekly exercise programme or 30minutes walk. Practise deep breathing periodically during the day. Remember your quick invigorating shower.
  4. Eat whole and natural foods instead of packaged or processed ones.
  5. Make your choice of protein from lentils, lean meats, and fish at least twice a week. Prioritize fruits and vegetables.
  6. Supplement your diet as necessary with multivitamins and minerals.
  7. Make time to connect with at least a friend or family member, or other social contacts on a daily basis talking to them, or using other means of communication.
  8. Do not smoke. If you are a smoker, quit smoking. Agree healthy levels of alcohol and any necessary drugs or medication with your doctor.
  9. Ensure a good night’s sleep (six to eight hours daily), and take short breaks two-three hourly when at work
  10. Ensure work-life balance and by every means, ward off the incipient build-up of stress that is known to be the underlying cause of such diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease, depression, reduced immunity ,frequency of colds etc.
  11. Effective management of your finances and time will prevent unnecessary build up of stress, due to pressure and worries.
  12. Have your 1-2 yearly medical check-up and heed to medical advice.
